Teachers Work with New ICCRS

This summer Indiana made the switch from Indiana Standards to the newer model, the Indiana College and Career Readiness Standards.  These standard keep Indiana in compliance with the ESEA or Elementary and Secondary Education Act Waiver.  The impetus is for schools to be more intentional in preparing students to be "college and career ready".  To maintain the waiver, and continue to receive Federal funds for schools, Indiana made the jump to the new standards.

So, what is different?  The new ICCR standards have a greater level of "depth" embedded into the learning standards.  Students will spend more time addressing the higher level thinking skills such as application, analysis, evaluation and synthesis.  The new standards have been developed in English Language Arts classes as well as math.  All remaining classes will continue to use the Indiana Standards for their particular subject area.
