Acuity Readiness 1 Assessment

Last week WMS completed round 1 of the Acuity Readiness Assessment.  All students grades 5-8 were administered both English-Language Arts and Math assessments.  Each assessment takes the students about an hour to complete.  These assessments are designed to give educators and parents information on student performance.  From the data we are able to ascertain the areas students are working at proficiency and the areas in which some more instruction and follow-up assessment should occur.  This data will help drive our instruction here at WMS to provide our students with what they need educationally.

When you have a moment, please talk with your student about the assessment.  Teachers have shared information, including performance results with the students.  You will most likely find that the students will indicate the assessment was extremely challenging and rigorous as compared to previous versions of the Acuity testing.  This increase in rigor and expectations is in line with the state's College and Career Readiness Standards and the new ISTEP+ assessment being created for this year.  Your students results will come home with midterms in a couple weeks.

We will continue to work with the students to reach our goal of passing rates of 80% in both E/La and Math ISTEP+.  Acuity Readiness will help guide us in this pursuit.

If you have questions regarding these assessments please call or email Mr. Mattern.
