White Stag
People say Greenland has always had snow. It actually was green at sometime? You didn’t know this? Well, then, let me tell you how it began.
It all started inside a little cave in Greenland. Inside the cave was a mother deer with her fawn. The newborn was different from all of her other offsprings. This fawn was pure white, and the mother knew right away that this little fawn was special. She didn’t know exactly how special it was.
The white fawn was now a few months old and was growing well. The fawn looked like any other fawn except for its white fur and ice blue eyes. The mother was worried because the fawn didn’t blend in well with the grass and trees, so everywhere they went, she had to keep a close eye on her fawn.
One day while the doe and fawn were grazing on some grass, the mother heard a noise and looked up quickly. She then noticed a hunter eying her fawn. She immediately charged at the hunter, attempting to save her fawn. The hunter had a perfect shot and hit her in the heart. The fawn was shocked and angered, so the fawn also charged. The hunter thought of this as an excellent time to shoot the rare fawn. As he raised his arrow, a gust of cold air hit him in the face and knocked him down. Before the hunter could get up, the fawn was already on top of him. The hunter could feel the cold breath of the fawn on his face. Suddenly something magical happened. Out of the fawn’s head grew a set of antlers. And the chest of the fawn was no longer small, but big and bold. The once little fawn was no longer small, but a strong stag. The hunter was amazed yet terrified at the same time. The stag snorted as loud as it could and snow started to fall The little fawn’s chest suddenly grew big and bold. Its legs grew longer. This once little fawn was now a strong stag.
The stag was angered and let out a deep snort, and out of nowhere there was snow. The stag was mad but didn’t have the heart to kill the hunter, so he let him go. As the hunter was running away, he turned to see the white stag walking away, but right behind the stag was a trail of frost.
This white stag lived for many, many years. He traveled all over Greenland leaving behind the frost and snow. People say that the stag is still alive wandering around the winter wonderland he had created. This is why Greenland has snow on it to this day.
