Knowledge, Skills and Dispostions

Wabash City Schools began work this past year to identify what specific knowledge, skills and dispositions we feel out students should have to be "college and career ready".  Below is an outline of those we chose.



Wabash City Schools is committed to preparing students to be college and career ready.  All students will possess the following Knowledge, Attitudes, and Skills:

Knowledge
  • Literacy (reading, writing, listening, speaking, technological)
  • Mathematical Thinking
  • Scientific Reasoning
  • History and Social Sciences
  • Literature
  • Fine Arts and Culture
  • Global Citizenship
  • Personal Responsibility
  • Careers

**NOTE TO OUR GROUP:
Personal Responsibility includes health, wellness, and finance
Consider lumping core content knowledge into a category (i.e. liberal arts, traditional subjects)

WMS will spend its professional development energies this year further developing these thoughts and working to make the transition from paper to classroom.  The goal this year will be to identify how these desired outcomes impact our classroom practices and how we go about implementing strategies to move our students towards these lofty goals.
